Roxane Rombouts and Joris van Weddingen

OUR STORY //

Roxane Rombouts and Joris van Weddingen first worked together during their studies at the University of Antwerp, where they completed a shared master’s project in 2019. This initial collaboration established a strong working dynamic and a shared understanding of design. After gaining experience in different contexts — in Belgium and abroad — they reconnected, reflecting on their earlier partnership and recognizing its value to combine perspectives when relevant.

Their work is defined by a continuous dialogue between architecture and interior, concept and detail, moving fluidly across scales. Their design approach is rooted in a cross-disciplinary way of thinking, where collaboration is not only between partners, but also between scales, contexts and experiences. Each project is approached with precision, where every element contributes to a broader spatial narrative.

”I always aim to approach a design from the principle that architecture is a spatial experience. It is about the enclosure of the volumes, the natural light that changes throughout the day, and the choice of materials that determine atmosphere and tactility. Together, these elements form a balanced space with a strong and enduring character.” - Joris

”Designing is the art of finding balance through contrast. It’s about introducing somehing new while understanding what already exists.
A balance between the excitement of complexity and the elegance of simplicity - expressed through space, materials and rhytm.” - Roxane
